Jeff Christian, Managing Partner of CPM Group, stated that although electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular, the growth rate of electric vehicle market share will not be as fast as commonly expected, which means that in the foreseeable future, the automotive industry will still need platinum group metals (PGMs) for catalytic converters.

Christian said that the adoption rate of electric vehicles may not be as fast as some people expect, mainly due to three reasons: the lack of power supply for electric vehicles, even if there is power supply, the current power grid lacks power transmission capacity, and automotive component manufacturers, including motors, currently do not have the ability or guarantee to provide sufficient supply for the entire automotive industry.
